Discover Scuba

When one of my friend presented the idea of us getting together to take an introductory "Discover Scuba" Lesson for $20 at Dive World, you can be sure I wasn't about to say no. It was an awesome introductory "Discover Scuba" course! You are first introduced to scuba in a class room setting, and educated on what to expect. And after the 30 minute class room lecture, you get into the provided scuba gear, and plunge into the 12 ft indoor heated pool inside the store. No relationships, no traffic or television. You're free! even gravity has lost it's pull. Sure 12 feet of heated water isn't anything compared to being in the big deep blue, but what this course is all about is getting you familar with scuba gear, and basic techniques to scuba diving. Awesome introductory "Discover Scuba" course!

Dive World is located on FM 620 at the corner of Lake Creek Pkwy.

I went to Austin park and pizza with my family last weekend and it was the most fun we have had in a long time. After you pay and get your wrist band you have access to everything. Austin park and pizza is huge and there are plenty of things to keep everyone busy all day. They even have a huge projection TV so you can watch the UT game while the kids are enjoying other activities. There's the whole floor of arcade games. Some of the other activities are go-karts, rock climbing, and laser tag.

You can save $13 off of admission if you take advantage of twilight pricing which starts at 7pm every day. You pay just $9.95 for twilight. Kids under 40” are free. Buffet not included.

'Dinner And A Movie' Gets A Cheap Makeover

You don't have to take your family out for an expensive dinner and movie to have a fun family night. You gotta try CiCi's and Cinemark Discount Movies 8! Dinner for $3.99 per person and the cost of a ticket for a movie is only $1.50! The pizza at CiCi's is always fresh. There is a salad bar, hot soup, and pasta. Only a few miles north of the CiCi's in Round Rock is Austin area's only discount movie theater, Cinemark Discount Movies 8. How can you beat a movie for $1.50? Once you have your popcorn and you're in your seat you do not care if the movie is a few months old. They still get pretty good movies. It is worth the wait. And it is still cheaper than Blockbuster and you are getting the full theatre experience.
Cheap and family friendly fun.

KIDS IN THE CAR FOR A FREE MEAL

PACK THE KIDS IN THE CAR FOR A FREE MEAL

Family Night
I love eating good food, but only if it’s prepared by someone else! Being culinary challenged, I rarely stand in front of a stove or venture down a grocery aisle. Taking the lid off a yogurt container is my idea of “slaving away” in the kitchen. My next kitchen is going to have vending machines. But being on a budget one of the first things I had to cut back on was eating out. Recently, I decided to test how far I could stretch the money I had budgeted for eating out. My family and I spent a week eating out at restaurants offering free kids meals.
Here's how it went:

  • Monday: We went to Mangia Pizza for the free kids' meals all day on Mondays. Besides their award winning stuffed pizza they also have spaghetti, lasagna, sandwiches, wraps, and cheesesteaks.

  • Tuesday: Was dinner at Kerbey Lane Café to take advantage of kids eat free Tuesdays. The kids menu has 16 items for example hippy burgers, enchiladas, omelets, pancakes and more. Bonus points for Kerbey Lane for using local goods and services and supporting our local economy.

  • Wednesday: Casual dining at Applebee's where kids eat free all day on Wednesday. They offer 2 free kids' meals per adult entrée purchased. Applebee's menu features beef, chicken and pork items, as well as burgers, pasta and seafood.

  • Thursday: We tried Molcas Mexican Restaurant. Kids eat free on Tuesdays and Thursdays all day with adult purchase.

  • Friday: Austin Park and Pizza with an all-u-can eat buffet for $5.95, kids under 40" eat for free. For an additional cost the kids can enjoy mini golf, laser tag, batting cages, bumper boats, and a rock climbing wall.

  • All Weekend: We were at Zen. Kids eat free all weekend with purchase of an adult enlightened bowl. Some of the things you can find on the kids menu are macaroni & cheese, and all natural sesame almond chicken tenders.

  • Bonus: IHOP everyday from 4-close kids eat free with an adult meal purchase.
